Privacy policy

Since its establishment, AMICUS International Educational Foundation (hereinafter “School”) has recognized the importance of protecting personal information and has therefore taken great care in the collection, storage and use of such information. In accordance with the “Basic Policy on the Protection of Personal Information,” the School is implementing the following initiatives.

 

Article 1: Definition of Personal Information

The term “personal information” herein means all information acquired and/or created as necessary for the School’s management related to persons including past and current pupils of the preschool, kindergarten, elementary school and junior high school that the School has established, student guarantors, parents/guardians, prospective pupils, officers, teachers, staff and whomever is involved in the School, and that would enable the specific person to be identified.

 

Article 2: Acquisition and Use of Personal Information

The School defines the Purpose of Use of personal information as clearly as possible, and in order to achieve the Purpose of Use, it acquires such information via appropriate means. Unless stipulated otherwise by laws and regulations, the School shall directly notify the specific person, or his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) in the case of the person being a minor, identified by the personal information (hereinafter “person”) to inform said person of the Purpose of Use or shall choose to publicly announce the Purpose of Use.

Unless prior consent is obtained or stipulated otherwise by laws and regulations, the School shall use the personal information within the scope of the purpose of usage. In the event that the School provides the personal information in the database to a third party, the School must obtain the person’s prior consent, unless stipulated otherwise by laws and regulations.

 

Article 3: Control and Protection of Personal Information

The School recognizes the risks (leakage, loss, damage, fabrication or unlawful access) related to personal information, and therefore will take the necessary and appropriate security control measures in order to prevent such risks. The School will keep teachers, staff and outsourcing contractors who handle personal information under appropriate supervision at all times.

 

Article 4: Disclosure, Correction and Deletion of Personal Information

In the event that the person requests disclosure, correction or suspension of use of his/her personal information in the database following routine procedures, the School shall handle such requests in accordance with the necessary laws and regulations.

In the event of a grievance from a person regarding his/her personal information, the School shall handle such requests in a swift and appropriate manner and shall endeavor to improve the School’s system of handling such requests.

 

Article 5: Applicable Laws and Regulations

Regarding the handling of personal information, the School shall comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other relevant laws and regulations, as well as the guidelines stipulated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and its Basic Policy.

 

Article 6: Personal Information Control System and Continuous Improvement of System

The School shall endeavor to review and improve the system for the protection and control of personal information, as well as the measures stated in the preceding paragraphs when necessary.
