ANA万座ビーチリゾートホテルで行われたテーブルマナー講習会についてのレポートです。アミークスから５年生２クラスが参加し洋食のテーブルマナーを教えていただきました。

The “Table Manner Workshop” was held at ANA Manza Beach Resort Hotel.2 classes from Grade 5 participated in this workshop and learned table manners of western style food.

これは沖縄県の食育推進事業の一環で行われました。まず座り方や姿勢、ナプキンの置き方、スプーンやフォーク、ナイフの使い方を教えてもらいました。

前菜からメインディッシュ、合計６種類をいただきました。この日は感謝祭ということでパンプキンスープや七面鳥も出ました。初めて見る料理や手順に緊張しながらもだんだんリラックスし講師の方に質問などもしていました。

This was conducted as a part of Food Education Program.　Children have learned how to sit with the proper posture, how to place a napkin, and how to use a spoon, fork, and knife.  They had total of 6 kinds of dishes from appetizer to main dish.  Pumpkin soup and turkey were served since it was Thanksgivings day.  Children were nervous with the food and procedures they have never seen before, but they started asking questions after feeling more relaxed.

食事の後は特別にキャリア教育と関連づけてホテルの仕事の説明や厨房や倉庫など普段は入ることのできない場所も見学させていただきました。ホテルでは新鮮な食事をお客様にお届けするためにマイナス１５度の場所で食べ物を保管するなど目には見えない努力とおもてなしがたくさん隠されていました。ホテルでは外国のお客様に対しても英語・中国語・スペイン語等の対応もできるそうです。特にマイナス１５度の部屋ではみんな驚いて歓声をあげていました。今まではお客さまとしてしか利用していない子たちも、ホテルの仕事に興味を持っているようでした。

After the meal, the children had lectures about the jobs at the hotel and could go inside the kitchen and the storage as their career studies.  There are many hidden efforts in the hotel, such as keeping food fresh in the 15℃ below zero room.   Children were so surprise how cold the room was.  The hotel is capable of supporting customers in English, Chinese, and Spanish.

The children have only used the hotel as guests before, but they seemed to be very interested about the jobs there now.
