All the way from Jamaica —14,395km to Okinawa — Ms. Richards, the Jamaican Ambassador, visited AMICUS! This special occasion, which allowed Ms. Richards to experience Okinawa’s traditional culture, was held at AMICUS.
The incredible performance was led by Mr. Daiich Hirata, lyricist of the well-known song “Dynamic Ryukyu”, and prominent director involved in theater, stage productions, and dramas. The event featured a group of young Okinawan artists and children who showcased traditional performing arts, captivating the audience with their powerful and graceful dances and music. It offered a true taste of Okinawan culture!
At AMICUS, we are proud to have a diverse faculty representing over 11 countries, including four teachers with Jamaican roots. Though Jamaica and Okinawa may be far apart, we share a deep love for music. Our musical styles may differ, but the joy of music and the warmth of human connection remain the same.
This cultural exchange was a truly heartwarming experience, bringing us all closer together.
