Today's AMICUS 2025 / 02 / 12

G4 International Exchange with Nanshi Elementary School in Taiwan

The Nanshi Elementary School in Taoyuan City and AMICUS have been communicating through online and mascot exchanges for the past four years. This is our second-time in-person exchange with the Taiwanese school.

[Day 1]

After the welcome reception, students from Nanshi Elementary School performed a lovely song and dance. They showed us the results of their daily research on MicroBit (a microcomputer designed for programming education), rhinoceros beetles, and Chinese poems.

The AMICUS students explained about Setsubun day (Setsubun is the event held to pray for our happy and healthy life) with pictures, and then they played “Oni wa soto” (devil outside) and “Fuku wa uchi” (good luck inside)! They enjoyed the Japanese Setsubun day.

The 4th graders introduced themselves to each other and it was impressive to see some AMICUS students speaking fluently in Chinese when they presented about Okinawa.

[Day 2]
They went to Okinawa World together. They visited a limestone cave and watched Super Eisa (Okinawa’s traditional dance that uses native drums) performance.
At the Ryukyu Kingdom Castle Town, the fourth graders explained everything in English and Chinese as guides, using what they had learned so far.

The 4th graders were very splendid!

They had lunch together at the end. They were happy to spend time together.  At the end,  they were reluctant to say goodbye.

It seemed like a very quick two days and the children were very satisfied with the exchanges they experienced.

We are looking forward to the future exchanges!
