Every year, the fourth grade students at AMICUS work on a giant print.
This year’s theme is “Mountain”. The main color of the print is yellow, which is displayed on the left side of the picture.
Before making their prints, the children visit the Bokunen Art Museum to view the work of Bokunen Naka. The children are then inspired by the works of Bokunen Naka at the Museum, where they get their ideas for the giant prints. They use a special printing technique which is called ‘Urate-Saishoku (back-color printing). Using the technique, the ink and color do not mix directly, but only slightly bleed into each other, a beautiful technique. It takes about a month to finish.
This time, heavy equipment was brought into the school, and the prints from the past three years, including this year’s prints, were replaced with the prints that had been displayed in the past.
The prints are on display in the Media Center at all times. Please enjoy the photos to start with!
