On December 17th, the student council president speech assembly was held at Amicus Junior High School. I was deeply moved by the enthusiasm and outstanding attitudes of all the students who ran for the position. What was common among all the candidates was their strong desire to “make Amicus a more enjoyable place,” and I was truly impressed by how that feeling was expressed in each and every word they spoke.
In their speeches, they confidently presented concrete ideas of what they wanted to achieve and proposed numerous ways to improve Amicus. Seeing them seriously think about what they want to work on to make school life more enjoyable and fulfilling, and then convey it in words, was both encouraging and a source of pride. Moreover, I was very pleased to hear the love for Amicus and the care for their peers reflected in the candidates’ words.
Through this speech assembly, I could also sense a strong desire from the candidates to “grow as individuals.” Taking on the challenge of student council activities is not an easy task. However, the students fearlessly took that step forward, showing courage and sharing their thoughts with confidence. This very act marks the first step in their growth, and I have the utmost respect for their enthusiasm and passion.
No matter who is chosen as the next student council president, I hope they will cherish their determination, efforts, and wonderful ideas. As the principal, I, too, will work hand in hand with the student council to create a school environment where all students can enjoy and feel at home. I will fully support the ideas and activities of the student council and strive together with them to make Amicus an even more remarkable school.
