Grade 9 Project Presentation Fair

The Personal Project presentations by Amicus 9th-grade students began today. Each student conducted research on a topic of their choice and is presenting their findings. The format is reminiscent of a poster session typically seen at academic conferences.

As I joined Amicus in April this year, this is my first time experiencing the Personal Project presentations. A total of 41 students are presenting, but I was able to visit only six booths during the morning session today.

Every presentation was impressive and truly inspiring. Among them, the one that left the strongest impression on me was a presentation on the topic, “What is the Enneagram?” This term was entirely new to me. According to the presentation, the Enneagram is a study that links personality traits to behavioral tendencies. The presenter conducted a survey among Amicus middle school students and provided her interpretation of why Amicus students are happy, proactive, and possess high self-esteem. I found it remarkable how she connected the group’s characteristics to personality traits and offered her own insights.

Not only was the content of her presentation outstanding, but her fluency in English was equally impressive (though this might be expected as she attends an English immersion school). What surprised me even more was her ability to answer related questions accurately and confidently in her own words.

During the morning session, I noticed some parents in attendance. However, I strongly wish for more parents to witness these incredible presentations. I plan to continue listening closely to the students’ presentations this afternoon and tomorrow as well.
