Achievements of Amicus Students

Over the past two days, three articles featuring Amicus students have been published in the Ryukyu Shimpo.

The first article is about our graduate, Ken Ogawa, who has been accepted to one of the world’s top science and engineering universities, Imperial College London.

The second article covers 9th grader An Yamanaka’s achievement, placing third in the national karuta tournament.

I hope that Amicus continues to be a place where all students develop strong English skills as a common foundation while also maximizing their individuality and strengths. When it comes to choosing a high school, I encourage students to select a school not just based on grades or recommendations but to think about what they truly want to pursue. In the article, Yamanaka-san expressed her desire to attend a high school with a karuta club, and as the principal, I was very pleased to hear that.

The third article is titled “Amicus Team Heads to the World Championships,” which reports on our team’s second-place finish in a national robotics competition and their upcoming participation in the world championships in Turkey this November. The junior team, “Amicus Girls,” is comprised of Natsuki Sawada (6th grade), Karen Kinjo (8th grade), and Yuri Sawada (2nd year at Kaiho Junior High and an Amicus EL graduate). The senior team, “Amicus R2K,” includes Reito Yamada (3rd year at N High), Kaito Sawada (2nd year at Kaiho High), and Reiya Yamada (OIS). Although the senior team members are all Amicus graduates and no longer current students, they decided to keep “Amicus” in the team name and even wore Amicus T-shirts during the competition. Hearing this story moved me deeply. I hope they continue to wear their Amicus T-shirts and do their best at the world championships (laughs).

Unfortunately, I cannot post the newspaper articles here, but please take a look at the Ryukyu Shimpo issues from September 12th and 13th.
