For this year’s Performance Day, JH is taking on the challenge of a musical, continuing on from last year!
The subject of this year’s performance is “Sanma Democracy”.
This documentary, produced by Okinawa Television (OTV), focuses on the then-unprecedented action of Tamashiro Ushi, a fishmonger, to take the Ryukyu government to court over tariffs for saury. The film also develops the story of how this action by Ushi ignited the subsequent movement to revert the Ryukyu Islands to Japan.
Now, let’s see how the JH students at AMICUS will arrange this…
Can’t wait for the show!
To kick off the preparation, all JH students watched “Sanma Democracy” together, after which the director, Mr. Sonzon Yamazato, gave a special lecture, giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the production and answering questions from the students.
Everyone eagerly took notes on what they noticed and learned!
The OTV crew was also there to cover the event.
Furthermore, OTV will be closely following the preparation process, including the day of the performance day!
We are looking forward to it.
We will keep you posted on the preparation process for the Performance Day on our blog!
