AMICUS became a member school of Round Square* in 2020.
Although face-to-face exchanges are limited due to the pandemic, we have had various online exchanges with Round Square member schools.
This time, a high school student and Round Square member from New Zealand is researching the “coral reef bleaching caused by climate change,” and since Okinawa is close to coral reefs, he requested a collaboration project.
Some of the AMICUS Junior High Students participated in the project and helped with the research by studying the actual condition of coral reefs in Okinawa by reading some sources and visiting museums, as well as investigating the Okinawan seawater.
It has been a great opportunity for them to interact with New Zealand high school students and learn about the coral reefs in Okinawa!
