At AMICUS Kindergarten, children learn many things through the theme study.

The children hold a meeting to discuss the theme of their research study once a month.

This time, the theme for K1 is “Garbage Problem.”

The reason why they decided on this theme is because of the challenge they thought of in November. They started a challenge which was to eat up all of their bento to prevent them from wasting any food.

The children started to be more conscious of what they ate and their interest slowly shifted to the “garbage problem” which spread among them.

The children picked up trash on their way back to school from their field trip, and they are also trying to make their own compost.

During the school closure, the children sorted garbage, including burnable and non-burnable garbage and compost, and thought about what could be recycled.

With the SDGs in mind, K1 children are thinking, learning, and acting on what they can do!
