The first graders visited the Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Center of Okiden Kaihatsu Co. on a field trip to experience planting coral seedlings.
They listened to some explanations from the facility staff about the decline of coral in Okinawa and why the facility is planting coral seedlings.
The children planted the small coral seedlings carefully one by one.
We hope the seedlings they planted will grow big and strong in the ocean!
The children also had a chance to see sea turtles, sea cucumbers, starfish, and other sea creatures that are kept at the facility!
