In Japan, autumn is said to be the best season for reading.
AMICUS had its Literacy Fortnight in September and had some reading activities throughout the school.
The children selected the best book they read this year and made a book recommendation card.
We couldn’t have storytelling by upper graders this year, however, the G5-G6 library committee made a book reading video and showed it to kindergarteners and lower graders.
They also had “buddy time” which was a chance for them to interact with other grades.
Students from upper grades and junior high showed lower graders their recommended books and gave a handmade postcard to them.
The children looked a little nervous but happy when they received nicely written postcards and interesting books!
They enjoyed themselves during Literacy Fortnight, even while following preventive measures for infectious diseases.
