AMICUS is now on summer vacation but we would like to share about the special lesson for children before the vacation.
There is a unit about manga in the Japanese curriculum for 4th grade.
We invited Okinawan cartoonist Mr. Momococoro to 4th grade and 5th grade and learned about manga in a fun way!
During the class, students tried drawing animals and various facial expressions, and later, they actually made cartoon characters on their own.
Also, students in 4th through 6th grade had club activities at the end of that day.
Mr. Momococoro visited the Manga club, to teach more about Manga.
Having listened some stories from Mr. Momococoro about manga production,
students in Manga Club tried making the four-frame cartoon.
The children seemed to have a lot of fun learning from the actual manga artist!
The four-frame manga “Gajumaru Family” on Ryukyushimpo (One of the local newspapers in Okinawa), has been drawn by Mr. Momococoro.
On the day he came to AMICUS, there were hidden letters in his drawing! Were you able to find them?
