Last year in June, 9th graders made a song from the poem they had written during the Peace Week with the help of Ms. Chiharu Tamashiro. (a singer from the music group, Kiroro)
After they made the song, one of the music teachers in Amicus composed the music, and the song “HOPE DREAM FUTURE” was created!
Ms. Tamashiro said, “I felt the richness of the students’ expressions and emotions” as she was creating the song and putting the pieces of the students’ poems together.
On the other day of March 1st, JH invited Ms. Tamashiro through Google Meet.
This time, she sang four songs including “HOPE DREAM FUTURE.”
She talked about her thoughts being put into the lyrics and the events that led her to make these songs.
She also gave some encouragement to the students who had many struggles during this pandemic.
Students were inspired by Ms. Chiharu, and some students gave us some comments about this experience: “This year has been tough to us with so many restrictions, but we are so grateful that we made a song with Ms. Chiharu.”; “Listening to Ms. Chiharu’s song reminded me of the memories until today,”; “Her singing inspired me a lot and encouraged me at the same time.”
It turned out to be one of the wonderful experiences for the 9th graders, and also for 7th and 8th graders!
Thank you very much, Ms. Chiharu for giving us this precious time and opportunity!
