On January 19th, G3 visited the Gushikawa Fire Department for their first field trip in grade 3 as part of social studies.

 

The students could not enter any facilities as safety measures were taken for the corona pandemic.

 

However, the students were able to observe the fire engines and other equipment outside of the station. 

 

The students showed interest in the trucks and gadgets and they were asking questions as the tour went on.

 

The firefighters seemed glad to be able to explain their occupation as they could not allow students in for field trips this whole year either. 

 

In addition, the firemen demonstrated their training routine and the children were able to see how they would respond in case of an actual emergency.

 

We appreciate the Gushikawa Fire Department for giving us the opportunity to visit them under difficult circumstances, and we hope they stay safe as they work every day for our safety here in Okinawa.
