AMICUS JHS students held their annual peace assembly last Wednesday, on the 19th of June. Small groups of students from each grade created speeches and presentations revolving around the theme of peace.
Grade 7 students stood in front of their classmates and spoke their feelings of peace, completely memorized, and urged everyone to stop bullying and to greet everyone with smiles.
Grade 8 students reported on their trip to the WWII memorial sites and what they learned about the battle of Okinawa.
Grade 9 students talked about human trafficking, racial inequality and world peace. They used the words of various world prominent figures (Mother Teresa, Ghandhi, Einstein, etc.) to encourage them all to continue fighting for peace.
They all learned a bit more about what it means to have peace in our lives and how lucky we are to have the freedoms we enjoy daily.
