Grade 3 went on a combined English and Social Studies trip to JAXA and the Onna museum, respectively.
As part of the English unit ‘Technology and Space’, the students were able to learn about the Japanese space program as well as the work that Onna JAXA team is doing working with satellites. They also learnt about the high quality and reliability of Japanese technology and the hard work it takes to be an astronaut and successfully launch and return a vehicle from space.
After lunch we went to Onna museum to learn about traditional Okinawan culture. The students discovered how life was for the Okinawan people and the tools they used for living. We think they gained a greater appreciation of the relative ease of living in today’s world. Overall the field trip was a great success which the students learnt a lot from.
