This morning, they participated in the Closing Ceremony for 1st Semester at AMICUS.
They were reminded of what they had survived so far, and presented awards to the students who won them both publicly, and at school.
G4, G5 Speech – How we spent our 1st Semester.
Students in fourth grade had visited an incineration plant. This experience afforded them fresh perspectives on food, and how to reduce waste. They also learned proper separate and dispose of things like eggshells, fish bones, and plastic items.
Fifth graders reaped the benefits of various projects, such as planting rice, launching the killifish rescue project, etc. The most memorable event (for G5 students) was practicing for the jump rope competition. They practiced every day…. even during break time. They were able to strengthen and polish their teamwork.
Speech by Mr. Yasui (School Principal)
Quoting Mr. Tasuku Honjo (the recent Nobel Prize winner) in his acceptance speech…. Mr. Yasui discussed “the 6Cs” needed to be successful.
“Curiosity” for chasing anything that catches your attention.
“Courage” to engage whatever you come across.
Accepting the “Challenge” with strong courage.
“Confidence” to believe in yourself, whatever your work.
“Concentration” to apply as you work hard.
And finally, “Continue” and never quit pursuing.
Each of these words correspond with items of AMICUS’ educational policy.
“I hope you all remember the 6Cs when you’re working hard on whatever it is that you’re interested in.” said Mr. Yasui. The kind of experience he’d had, made his words a lot more convincing.
Wondering what might be in store for you for this next semester!?! I hope you’ll all work hard for the 2nd Semester too!!
