At our school we had our “Literacy Fortnight” where students immerse themselves into reading books.
We implement a lot of reading in our lessons at AMICUS, as we believe that reading becomes a significant part of language learning.
They learn not just the word itself, but the concept within each of these words.
Buddy Time – G1 and G6
The G1 teacher was happy to see her former students coming to visit her G1 class to do reading activities together. They grow so quick.
The G6 students were reminded of what they were like when they first became an elementary student. They all enjoyed reading the books together.
The G3s presenting their work to the G8s.
The G3 students presented their Paper Theatre to the G8s. It doesn’t have to be books they read — They chose to present their books in the form of Paper Theatres.
“We will present our Paper Theatre.” The G3 sounded a little nervous.
“Yeeeeaaaahhh!!!” The G8s cheered the G3s with a big round of applause.
The G2 students working in pairs.
In the G2 class, the students worked in pairs and introduced the books they chose to each other.
It might be a specific scene they have chosen, or it could be the whole story. Some chose an English version of a famous Japanese comic, and some of them even picture books of insects.
As a round up we all wrote a book review of our favourite books and presented to each other.
