The approaching weekend is the big competition.
And today is one of their last training sessions together.
It really is a brain teaser, as you must build,
and program at the same time, within a time limit.
“Practice makes Perfect” is the exact phrase that came to mind when I saw the scope of practice. These machines can be easily affected by factors like lighting, humidity, floor dust, angles of the walls, and even a small insect if it happened to fly by. A short list of additional rules will be issued spontaneously on the very day, making it an unpredictable challenge.
The team shown here is working on a design that is detects, carries, and replaces blocks according to their color. They need to make sure the machine moves in a certain order, and positions blocks into the corresponding zones. They were arranging the color placements to see the blue goes to green, and vise versa.
Here I see a poster, not a block.
I figured out that this is the practice session for the Open Category.
The category is as OPEN as its name — they needed to come up with a solution to real-life problems around the world.
These students are practicing their presentation about the machines. No problems, of course, as they have a lot of opportunities in their every-day class for presentations.
Finally, the competition is on this weekend.
GOOD LUCK Robot Club!!!
We had some reporters from the Okinawa Times for a newspaper coverage, and it’s going to be on the 9th Sep.
Let’s look forward to that too!!!
