We had our Peace Assembly for the elementary school, in the last two days.
We presented our work in a video clip, of what we worked in class and during Buddy Time last week.
The Principal made his speech about peace, and there were also sang a song with a band music.
Peace Assembly (G1 ~G3)
The G1 to G3 students presented what they’ve worked on, during the Buddy Time last week, and what they’ve worked on in class. They took pictures of their work, and put it into a video clip.
The 3rd grade students focused on the various kinds of trouble in their daily lives. They presented a role play on what kind of things that may cause problems, such as leaving someone out on purpose, and teasing.
We all “peaced out” at the end, and strongly wished for peace.
Peace Assembly (G4~G6)
The upper elementary students presented a variety of works. They took pictures of their “Peace-Posters” and gatherd their interviews “What is peace to you?”, and gathered it into a video clip.
The G6 students shared their experience they had at the Himeyuri-no-tou Museum and the Peace Memorial Park. They also presented the words of historical figures who spread their words across the world about peace.
「Tsuru-chan」 read by Ms. Tamashiro
After each grade has presented their work, Ms. Tamashiro, a parent of a current AMICUS student, read a book called “Tsuru-chan”. The story is about a young girl “Tsuru-chan” who experienced devastating situations during wartime, and facing deaths of her family members. Ms. Tamashiro read the book in Okinawan intonation to make the story more live, and to convey messages from Tsuru-chan to the students.
Thank you Ms. Tamashiro.
Principal’s Speech
The principal made a speech about peace.
“We all know that war is a bad thing. However, when we ask ourselves about peace, we find out that the form of peace is different amongst ourselves. Unfortunately, that difference may cause conflict between each other. That is why I want you all to understand the importance of communication – to speak and to listen, and most of all, the school policy, THINK, LEARN, and ACT.”
We all took in his words of hope, that we need to take time to talk to each other, and accumulate our hard work, to know more about each other.
