At AMICUS, we set a ‘Peace Week’ every year in June. As a part of the Peace Week events, we had an activity called the “Buddy Time”.
The Junior High School students and the upper elementary students paired up with the lower-elementary students and the kinders. They read stories to each other, made cranes with origami, and wrote peace wishing cards.
They all thought about peace from big ones like world peace, to small ones like peace around our daily lives.
The 5th grade and the kinders
The 5th graders went down to the kindergarten classes and made origami cranes, and made peace-wishing cards together.
They kindly taught the kinders how to fold the cranes, as it is still quite difficult for the kinders to make cranes with origami.
The definition of “peace” by the 9th graders
The 9th graders did a lesson to the 4th graders It was about “peace in their daily lives”. They focused on “bullying”.
They came to a conclusion that world peace, is an accumulation of small peace, the kind of peace we keep with our families and friends.
It was quite a job for them, especially during the mid-term test, speech contest, and preparation for their Performance Day.
Great Job Grade 9 students!!!
