K1 friends enjoyed their biggest field trip of the year to Churaumi Aquarium in Motobu. They day was beautiful, the bus ride was long, but they did a great job and had a great time!
A beautiful day and beautiful bus ride…
We arrived!
“I see sharks!”
We saw “sea garbage art”. K1s learned how garbage is dangerous for sharks. They said, “Let’s do beach cleaning!”
Q&A. To continue our Animals theme learning, we sent many questions about sharks to the Churaumi staff. They prepared a short presentation for us. K1 “Interviewers” ask questions to Ms. Higa and we were able to learn more about amazing sharks.
Question 1: how are sharks born?
Question 2: what do sharks’ scales look like?
Question 3: how many types of sharks are there?
Question 4: how fast do sharks swim?
Questions 5: What should you do if you see a shark in the ocean?
Question 6: what does the inside of sharks’ bodies look like?
Lunch Time
Leaving Churaumi. Returning to Amicus.
We shared what we enjoyed. It was a great day!
Early in the morning, our birthday friends were busy making cake.
Here is a glimpse of our celebration.
Last weekend marked the end of summer and the beginning of the beautiful fall season. K1s learned about the wonderful seasonal hobby of “moon watching” or じゅうごや。We had fun learning the Japanese traditional song, (Rabbit and the Moon)。K1s made beautiful artwork about the full autumn moon. They used several different art techniques. They had a great time. Please enjoy the photos. We hope you enjoyed a peaceful Autumn Break. We were happy to see most of our K1s back today to start Term 2 with fun!

End of Term 1 Assembly & Teachers Day Celebration- “Thank you, teachers, for all you do!”
We enjoyed our last Nature Walk of Term 1. We look forward to many more as the weather becomes cooler in Term 2.
K1s have been enjoying a lot of activities related to their theme- ANIMALS. They are enjoying discovering the beautiful nature and small animals around them.

Gardening
Last week we renewed our K1 garden. We decided to plant 4 crops- tomatoes and cucumbers (we want to try again), and eggplants and green peppers. We enjoyed Quiz Time- guessing which plant grows which vegetable. K1s used their 5 senses. It was fun!
Afterwards we began planting…🌱 Grow plants, grow!!
Phonics
“Learn to play…Play to learn” Learning letters by playing karuta.
Music
“Nabe, nabe…” 😊
Activity
Art
K1s are developing their art skills. Activity #1- how to draw your body and Activity #2 printing with shapes.😊

Bean bag challenge!
K1s have been learning how to juggle using the bean bags. They are working on 3 skill challenges- please ask your child to show you at home.
Thank you again for your support for our K1s Mission. The Mission is COMPLETE! All K1s have presented and we learned a lot about the foods they made and how they are good for our bodies. It is encouraging to hear that they are using their S&T sentences to talk about their snack and lunch with one another. We look forward to challenging them more as we get into Term 2!
“It was ~.” “It’s sweet.” “It’s sour.” ”It’s bumpy!”

Tomato & Cucumber Group learning
We were happy to see such good results from our pre-summer Group Learning.
Great job K1 friends!!🥰🙌
Last week, K1 friends were working so hard to make the gifts for their grandparents who are Mommy’s parents and Daddy’s parents. We hope you all had a great weekend with your family and that their grandparents like their gifts!🥰
Making beads part
Leaf pressing
K1 friends picked some leaves from around Amicus for their grandparents.😘They pressed them into paper clay.

Gifts for grandparents
For the wood art, we recycled the tree from Amicus that fell down in the last big typhoon🌳🌪 K1s are thinking a little about SDGs
I love you Grandma and Grandpa!!💗
We continue to enjoy hearing about our K1s’ food experiences and how the food they cooked with benefits our bodies. More friends are challenging themselves to eat a variety of different foods. They are learning to present their work to their friends and speaking in a big voice. They are also learning how to ask each other questions. It has been a fun experience so far!
