This week we learned about and celebrated Hina Matsuri, or Girls’ Day. We went to the Media Center Library and enjoyed a Hina Matsuri book read by Ms. Masami. The students enjoyed choosing who to take their special Girls’ Day photo with and created a beautiful photo and frame craft. We hope parents will enjoy it and enjoy celebrating every day with our super kids!
Amicus Art Exhibition
We went to the Media Center to view the Art Exhibition. We saw a lot of creative and interesting artwork. K1s were excited to see their artwork on display as well. Afterward we enjoyed nice reading time.

K2 Hina Matsuri
Every year on March 3rd, Japan celebrates the Doll Festival (Japanese,Β Hina Matsuri). Until recently, Girls’ Day was also celebrated on March 3rd. On this day every year, families set up a special step-altar on which to arrange their Emperor and Empress dolls, called “hina” in Japanese. They decorate this altar with boughs of peach blossoms and make offerings to theΒ hinaΒ dolls of freshly made rice cakes (mochi), either flavored with a wild herb or colored and cut into festive diamond shapes. Here at the Kyoto National Museum, we hold an exhibition of dolls every year sometime between February and April in celebration of the Doll Festival. In Kinder, we read the story about Hina Matsuri. Since it is “Girl’s Day”, we ask our K2 girls to choose their partner and took pictures in our special doll panel.
Please enjoy…
Happy Girl’s Day
Recently K1…
We are changing our garden for the last time in K1. We will be starting a γͺγγγγΏγΌγ¬γΌγγ³ or Wild Garden. Students have been collecting seeds from home to contribute to the garden. They pulled weeds, mixed the old soil with the new soil, and planted the seeds randomly. They will be able to watch the different seeds grow. Because the seeds are mix they will enjoy discovering which seeds will make which plants, fruits and vegetables. They had fun!
English Music Time- K1s are learning about greetings in English and about how to greet at different times in the day. They learned the Greeting Song. Please ask your child to sing it to you and enjoy doing the dance together!
P.E.- Students are getting stronger! They can hold the high bar for 10 seconds. They are also practicing for the Kinder Marathon.
K1 Crazy Hair Day
Today we enjoyed Crazy Hair Day. The hairstyles were really interesting. Please enjoy their photos.
K2 Crazy Hair Day
It’s nice to see everyone’s face smiling and appreciating art on the hair of their friends.
K2 friends had our activities as usual. Tomorrow is a holiday so, we went to Library today.
They also checked different kinds of art in the Media Center as part of the ART EXHIBITION 2022 π
Today’s CRAZY HAIR DAY was definitely fun!
Setsubun at Kinder
We are happy to see Kinder friends this week. Their smiles and happy voices make AMICUS Kindergarten alive.
This week, we were busy with many activities like Eiken Test for K2 and Performance practice. Thank you for your creativity and cooperation, we have received most of the costumes from K1 and K2.
Before this week ends, we also had an important event in Kinder. Setsubun (η―ε) is one of these traditional Japanese events. Setsubun involves a lot of bean eating and bean throwing to ward off evil spirits that bring disaster, misfortune and bad health and marks the end of winter. So, we did it in Kinder too.

We look forward to growing and learning about more yummy vegetables next time!
