K1 Valentines

K1s really love their friends. To show our friendship, we learned about the story of St. Valentine, learned Valentines words and then made hearts and Valentines poems for each other. We hope your family had a special Valentines Day as well!

🇵🇭 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙤🥭

Mango is very popular in Okinawa. However, Philippine mango is a different variety. Filipinos love mangoes too. But we eat green (unripe) mangoes and yellow (ripe) mangoes.

Since, Kinder friends have tried the sweet Okinawa mango, we let them try the sour Philippine mango as well. Please check the pictures for their reactions.

In the Philippines, it is popularly used as a special ingredient to different kinds of soup.

Since it is very nutritious food, we planted the seed 3 years ago in Kinder.

Our students tried the tamarind. This sweet variety of tamarind is from Thailand.

Next are Mu-chi no hi and Setsubun 🇯🇵

We listened to the story and learned that it is traditional to eat mu-chi to ward off demons, protect from evil, and pray for good health.

Mu-chi also come in different flavors. Did you eat mu-chi this year?

𝕊𝕖𝕥𝕤𝕦𝕓𝕦𝕟 🫘

K2 friends learned a song during their Music Time.

They also listened to the stories about Setsubun and thought of the ogre/demon/monster attitude inside them that they want to get rid of.

Then, during their art time, they made their oni and throw some soy beans to drive away those oni attitude inside them.

Japanese and a lot of people around the world love baseball. Shohei Ohtani is a very popular Japanese baseball player sent baseball gloves to AMICUS students to encourage them to play baseball. Our K2 friends were very happy and grateful.

🌸 Cherry Blossom Season 🌸

We took a break from practicing and ate lunch outside under the cherry blossom trees.
