CONGRATULATIONS!
It was a beautiful day to ride horses. K1s enjoyed their experience. They learned about our Amicus horses’ names and ages. They learned how to touch the horse gently and the importance of greeting the horse before getting on and thanking the horse when getting off. Finally, after learning how to be safe around the horses, K1s were ready to ride.
This morning we enjoyed our Kinder Marathon. K1s and K2s challenged themselves and ran their very best. We are so proud of them! Please praise your child for a Super Job!
Congratulations to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners!
Congratulations to our K1 Marathon Challengers!
Calligraphy is one of the highlights this year as our K2 friends learned how to read and write in Hiragana then, Kanji at the end. Here is a glimpse of their experience. Please enjoy watching 🙂
We were taught by one of our K1 friends how to make bug spray (insect repellent) using shell ginger (げっとうの葉). We really enjoyed this two-days project!
He taught us how to make the bug spray. K1s enjoyed cutting the shell ginger leaves. We used lemongrass, myrtle, and mugwort for different aroma.
We boiled the leaves over two days. After cooling, we prepared our spray bottles and put in the bug spray liquid. We were happy to share with Mr. Akiho because he had many bug bites from gardening
We went outside to test our bug spray. Please try our bug spray at home. Please note you can keep it for on 14 day. (2週間以内で使い切るようお願いします。)
Here are the last birthday parties that we had this year from January-March 🙂
Thank you for watching 🙂
This week we learned about and celebrated Hina Matsuri, or Girls’ Day. We went to the Media Center Library and enjoyed a Hina Matsuri book read by Ms. Masami. The students enjoyed choosing who to take their special Girls’ Day photo with and created a beautiful photo and frame craft. We hope parents will enjoy it and enjoy celebrating every day with our super kids!
We went to the Media Center to view the Art Exhibition. We saw a lot of creative and interesting artwork. K1s were excited to see their artwork on display as well. Afterward we enjoyed nice reading time.
Every year on March 3rd, Japan celebrates the Doll Festival (Japanese, Hina Matsuri). Until recently, Girls’ Day was also celebrated on March 3rd. On this day every year, families set up a special step-altar on which to arrange their Emperor and Empress dolls, called “hina” in Japanese. They decorate this altar with boughs of peach blossoms and make offerings to the hina dolls of freshly made rice cakes (mochi), either flavored with a wild herb or colored and cut into festive diamond shapes. Here at the Kyoto National Museum, we hold an exhibition of dolls every year sometime between February and April in celebration of the Doll Festival. In Kinder, we read the story about Hina Matsuri. Since it is “Girl’s Day”, we ask our K2 girls to choose their partner and took pictures in our special doll panel.
Please enjoy…
Happy Girl’s Day
