K1 friends enjoyed playing “Make a face” game which is Japanese traditional New Year play. This time, they colored the face parts and prepared face shape with newpapers. Once they finished getting ready the GAME STARTS!!! Please enjoy our art:)
Have a gread weekend♪
K1s also enjoyed the experience of making beautiful calligraphy. Students learned how to use calligraphy brushes (fude) and ink (sumi). We know you too will be impressed with their amazing artwork.
After the calligraphy, they had fun time with their friends.
Some scenes of their daily life…
We have invited a special guest to teach us Calligraphy this year. K2 friends enjoyed learning some Kanji and experienced writing them as well.
Here’s a glimpse of what we did with Mr. Nakasone.
On the second day, we watched Mr. Nakasone’s amazing Calligraphy performance with K1 friends. Thank you for your time Mr. Nakasone. 😊
K1 friends have begun practicing for their Marathon event on January 24th. They are challenging and trying to beat their OWN time. They are learning about how to spend their energy wisely so they can finish the race well. We encourage you to enjoy running with your child to help them build their stamina and keep developing their healthy bodies.
Welcome back everyone! It was so great to see the students’ smiling faces yesterday and hear about their Winter Break memories. Some families travelled. Some stayed at home and made wonderful memories here in Okinawa. Teachers are glad everyone could rest and relax (or recover from illness). Here’s to the great start to a great new year as we countdown our last 3 months of kindergarten. Please enjoy some pictures of our day.
We listened to a かみしばい story theatre about Japanese New Years folklore
We played Make the Lucky Face (ふくわらい)
We learned about the Japanese traditional meal おせち.

Snack and Outside Play
Checking our soybeans- unfortunately, our soy beans did now grow. We were sad but K1s were about to think about why our third try had failed. They said they want to try again so we will discuss again how to grow sow beans and, if possible, challenge and try again!
We had good fun in the classroom, too.
We also enjoyed learning about Japanese New Year with K2 friends. We wish for a blessed and prosperous year for all our Amicus Families!
K2 friends have been learning about SOLAR SYSTEM and SPACE during activity time so we went to JAXA today to learn more and answer some of the questions of our K2 friends.
Inside, we learned about rockets, satellites, life in space and many more.
After that, we went to Iha Park to eat LUNCH!
Then, we enjoyed playing with everyone for few minutes before heading back to AMICUS.
We walked approximately 3 km from Iha Park to AMICUS for 40 minutes.
It was a tiring walk but definitely a wonderful experience to go and learn a lot in JAXA and enjoy at Iha Park!☺️
Today we visited the brown sugar factory in Yomitan Village as part of our Food and Nutrition theme. Students were amazed to learn about how healthy sweet brown sugar is made. They learned a lot from the tour. They were happy to be able to take some kokuto (brown sugar nugget) home 🙂
After the brown sugar factory we went to Iha Park to have our picnic lunch and play. Afterward we walked back to Kinder. It was our first time to walk such a long distance together. The walk 3km in 50minutes. They did a SUPER good job!
This week we welcomed Mr. Teruya back to teach K1s how to make a “wind top” using milk carton bottoms and yarn. Again, K1s enjoyed learning about reusing materials and spending time with てるやおじいさん 🙂
We had a great time!
