This week in K1 we talked a lot about plants around Amicus, learned about “letter E”, learned how to run a relay in P.E. and more! Please enjoy our photos from this fun week!
Our nature walk around our beautiful Amicus campus🌺🍃
We have started focusing on our Main Theme- PLANTS! To start the theme K1s enjoyed playing the game “What is a Plant?” Many friends showed teacher that they understand well what plants are. K1のアクティビティーのテーマは植物です。植物のゲームや活動を通して、子どもたちは植物に興味を持ち学び始めています。
We are planning to have a salad party in K1 this year in hopes that K1’s understanding and interest in healthy food habits will develop well for their good heath. As a class we thought about what we want to plant in our K1 Garden. The students voted. They decided to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots.
During Open Class we enjoyed making playdough plants with parents.

We are looking forward to observing how our plants and food will grow. 野菜の成長を観察していくのを楽しんでいきます!
K1 friends have been busy every day. We hope you are enjoying the stories they tell about their days.
Phonics
K1s are learning to write their name and about the letters and letter sounds of the A and B now. They are having fun singing the ABC song and learning the ASL sign for the letters. Ms. Berry is having fun, too!
Library
Last week we started Library Time. K1s can borrow 2 books every week. Please enjoy reading their books to them.
Activity Time- I’m Special Book Project
K1s continue learning about each other using their I’m Special book. Recently we worked on their page about how tall they are. They enjoyed measuring each other using non-standard measurement tools.
Children’s Day is a cultural celebration of children. It takes place on May 5th. Hanging carp streamers represents the hope that our children will grow healthy and strong and live long “genki” lives. We hope you will enjoy celebrating your child and making many wonderful memories during this long Golden Week!
K1s and teachers made good memories in April. They may not remember these “foundational” days forever but we sure are having a great time together. Thank you again for your support throughout our 1st month of K1!
