K1 Girls’ Day- Hina Matsuri
This week we learned about and celebrated Hina Matsuri, or Girls’ Day. We went to the Media Center Library and enjoyed a Hina Matsuri book read by Ms. Masami. The students enjoyed choosing who to take their special Girls’ Day photo with and created a beautiful photo and frame craft. We hope parents will enjoy it and enjoy celebrating every day with our super kids!
Amicus Art Exhibition
We went to the Media Center to view the Art Exhibition. We saw a lot of creative and interesting artwork. K1s were excited to see their artwork on display as well. Afterward we enjoyed nice reading time.

Pajama/Christmas Party
Today is a wonderful day for all of us in AMICUS. It became more memorable because of our Kinder friends who shared their talents during our Party!
In K2, we had mini Talent Show. 🙂
K1 friends decided the special schedule today. We enjoyed playing a lot at the GYM after lunch. 🙂
We gathered as one Kinder Family to celebrate.

Earth Savers’ Project Continues…
For K1s’ next Earth Saver challenge they want to focus more deeply on SDGs #11, #12, #14 and #15 regarding caring for the Earth through learning how to identify and separate our garbage properly. We talked about what garbage is, categories of garbage and how to recycle or reuse it. Please encourage your K1 to think about how to deal with garbage at home as well.
12月のK1「アースセイバーのお仕事」は、SDGs(持続可能な開発目標)の11、12、14、15番にあたる「ゴミ拾い」となりました。引き続き「30分ぺロリチャレンジ」は継続していくことも、子どもたちとの話し合いで決定しました。その延長線で、今月のテーマは「ゴミ」になり、ゴミの定義やゴミの分別、リサイクルマークについて学びました。ご家庭でも、ぜひ「ゴミ」についてお話してみてください♪
We took a nature walk and picked up a lot of garbage around school.
校内を散歩し、ゴミ拾いに取り組んでいます。
Students learned how to sort the garbage by labels paper, paper pack, plastic bottles and plastic. They organized our Kinder materials shelves, too. It looks great. Good work, K1!
子どもたちは、紙、紙パック、ペットボトル、プラスチックのマークを探す「宝探し」をし、そのマークを利用して廃材コーナーの片づけをしました。

Thank you dear parents for coming to our Open Class this week Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The K1s were happy to see their parents. We had a great time.
お忙しい中、K1の保育参観にお越しくださり、ありがとうございました。子どもたちも保護者の皆様に会えて、とても喜んでいました。
In Phonics Time, K1s learned about letters V and W. They learned what comes before and after V and W. They reviewed some of their past dictionary vocabulary words through chanting. K1s also colored, cut and pasted their vocabulary picture in their ongoing dictionary. Parents could see how their child enjoys learning and understanding so many things in English.
フォニックスタイムでは、アルファベットの「V」と「W」について学び、自分のアルファベット辞書の製作を行いました。また、過去に学んだアルファベットの復習をリズムに合わせて唱えました。子どもたちが英語を楽しみながら学び、理解する姿をお見せすることができました。
In Activity Time, K1s they identified garbage (burnable, non-burnable, compost) through a treasure hunt. They presented their treasure in front of their friends. On Tuesday, K1s learned about recycling, how to read they recycling labels and then played a memory game with the labels. On Wednesday, K1s talked about plastic garbage in the ocean. They enjoyed “fishing for plastic”.
アクティビティータイムでは、月曜日はゴミの分別(燃えるゴミ、燃えないゴミ、コンポスト)を「宝探し」をしながら学び、お友だちの前で発表を行いました。火曜日は、リサイクルについて学び、リサイクルマークを使ったカードゲーム(神経衰弱)をしました。水曜日は、多くのプラスチックゴミが海を汚していることについて学び、明日の遠足「ビーチクリーン」に向け、「プラスチックゴミ釣り」をして海を綺麗にする練習をしました。
日々成長する子どもたちの幼稚園での姿をお見せすることができ、本当に嬉しく思います。

K1 Sentai Earth Saver
K1の子どもたちは、SDGsの絵本を読んだことをきっかけに地球や環境への関心が高まり、「地球を守る!Earth Saver」というオリジナルのスーパーヒーローを生み出しました。子どもたち一人ひとりが好きな色の「Earth Saver(アースセイバー)」になりきり、地球のために自分たちができることについて話し合いました。
During the last two weeks we have been reading these books during Circle Time. K1s became interested in learning about how to save our Earth. They made their original Earth Saver picture (deciding their favorite pose and colors) to help them work to save our Earth. We posted them in our classroom.
今月は、SDGsの掲げる12番目のテーマ「つくる責任、つかう責任」の中から、『フードロス』に焦点を当て、身近にできることとして、まずは毎日のお弁当を30分間で完食する「30分ペロリチャレンジ」に取んでいます。クラス全員がお弁当を完食すると、コミュニケーションブックのシールが「ペロリ」になり、全員が完食できなければ「クライ(泣き顔)」になります。
This month we will focus on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). They chose to focus their Earth Saver powers on #12 “Food Loss”. So they started the “Perori Challenge” where they will challenge and try to finish ALL of their lunch within Lunch Time (30minutes). When K1s work together and finish all their lunch they are rewarded with a “Perori face” (happy face) on their communication book attendance sticker. They they are unable to work as a team and focus and finish their lunch during Lunch Time then they get a sad face sticker.
