Pray for our Sports Day

K1 friends drew the pictures of what they want to do their best at. Although our Sports Day was postponed they are still looking forward to doing their best.

We hung the “Teru Teru Bozu” and prayed for no rain for our Sports Day next week…

Good-bye October…

We took a nature walk to collect nature materials for our art activities. We also picked up small garbage around the school grounds. Then we went to get manure from the horse stables to help our vegetables grow.

We learned about the “butterfly pea” flower and did a science experiment, soaking the flower and changing the color of the water using vinegar, shiiquasa, and baking soda. It was so interesting!

In Calligraphy K2 started learning about kanji!

We went to Yomitan to harvest sweet potatoes. The day before we learned about how sweet potatoes help our bodies and how to harvest them.

We enjoyed riding on the Amicus bus- some friends for the first time!

It was a beautiful day to harvest sweet potatoes! We appreciate our farmers!

After harvesting the sweet potatoes we ate lunch and played at the park in Zampa.

Before boarding the bus we were able to walk to Zampa Light House and take a memorable group photo.

We had so much fun!

Literacy Station: Alphabet Game

P.E. Station : Ball Toss Game

Math Station : Dice Game

Social Studies: Animals around the World Matching Game

Life Skills: Quiz ~ “What does plant need to grow?”

What a great day to end October! 🙂

Sweet Potato Digging

We went on our first field trip this year! The weather cooperated really well. Our Kindergarteners enjoyed a lot not only the sweet potato digging but also playing in the park.

After the farmer’s explanation, kinder friends dug up sweet potatoes with their full power while feeling the soil’s texture using shovels and their hands.

“There are baby potatoes!”

“I’ve got such a big potato!”

“Lots of potatoes are connected!”

Some friends enjoyed playing roles like characters of “The Gigantic Turnip” while digging sweet potatoes and said “Untokosho! Dokkoisho!”

There were few people except AMICUS kinder friends at Zanpa Park. It seemed to be the place to ourselves! After eating lunch and playing at the park, we walked to see the Zanpa lighthouse.

It was definitely a wonderful day! 🙂

Autumn is here again

The days are getting cooler and more comfortable. We hope you enjoyed Fall Break.

Term 1 is finished and we have worked hard to complete our big Term 1 project- the map of Okinawa. We will upload the students’ presentations soon.

Term 2 has now started and we are moving on with our learning about our Earth. We are now learning about our amazing country- JAPAN! We asked students what they know about Japan and then showed them many famous things around Japan.

In Phonics Time we are learning a new song: “Autumn Song”. Please enjoy singing together at home.

We finished our “What is in Your Garden” book. They enjoyed reading to teachers and to each other before taking it home. Please read together with your child at home. We are ready for the next book…

Students are also learning new sentences: I like to eat…/ He likes to eat… / She likes to eat… / We like to eat… / They like to eat… We will make our new book soon.

In Math Time we are learning to play board games with dice and learning how to make weather graphs.

Our Kinder Garden is still growing okra. We counted 16 okras growing now.

We cleaned our other vegetable bed so we can plant other vegetables.

Together with K1 friends K2s planted new banana trees!

We enjoyed Calligraphy Time with Mr. Nakasone. We learned how to do shiritori.

Enjoying lunch together

*We have many lost and found items in Kinder. Please let us know if something belongs to your child.*
